Although it is true that we often emerge stronger and wiser from difficulties and adversity, the economic and humanitarian crisis that has been affecting our country for years severely tests the endurance of all of us. Society suffers and nobody can turn a blind eye to this sad reality.

Healthy enterprises, as a living cell of modern society, have the moral obligation and the ability to reach out and really help the less privileged groups of the population, thus proving that success is estimated not only in economic terms but also based on social responsibility. In this context, PROLAT, devoted to its values and to its aim to translate social solidarity into effective help, donated building materials to the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands, a non-governmental organization whose activities extend to the cultural, educational, social and environmental sectors, always in accordance with the principles of UNESCO. In a special ceremony, the club’s president, Ioannis Maronitis, awarded an honorary distinction to PROLAT for this initiative. The materials donated will be used to erect structures against poverty in Keratsini and Corinth.

Giving is in itself exquisite joy, as Erich Fromm has said. Besides, “not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much” (John Chrysostom). And PROLAT is definitely rich –in innovative ideas, in human resources, and in social sensitivity.
