In densely populated cities, parks do not only serve as green lungs that replenish oxygen in the atmosphere but are also valuable oases of beauty amid the urban grey and multifunctional recreation centres hosting all sorts of sports and cultural activities. A perfect example is Olof Palme Park in Thessaloniki, a completely renovated historical green area specially configured so as to respond to the inhabitants and visitors’ needs. Apart from various improvements and additions, today the park offers walking, running and biking paths for users of all ages, including people with limited mobility. The ceramic floor of PROLAT is a natural, bioclimatic material ideal for use by pedestrians, athletes, toddlers, people in wheelchairs, etc. PROLAT floor, as Renzo Piano’s team named it after our cooperation at the park of Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, is characterized by remarkable natural beauty. Furthermore, it absorbs rain waters, thus preventing the underground from drying up.
